PBS Kids programs have taught generations of American children everything from math and science to manners and morals, all while providing quality entertainment. Even more, Twitter users have posted over 47,000 times in the last decade about Sesame Street, showing that PBS Kids shows are still top-of-mind nationally.
With the recent news that Arthur will end after its 25th season next winter, the CenturyLinkQuote team set out to find the PBS Kids shows Americans search for most. To do so, we compiled a list of the 30 most popular PBS Kids shows according to Ranker and Romper and found the search volume of each show in Semrush. Then, we plugged the nine most searched shows into Google Trends to see which show was searched most in each state in the past 12 months. Finally, we used the social listening tool Brandwatch to gather and analyze geotagged Twitter mentions from the last 10 years that referenced “PBS” or “PBS Kids” along with each of the nine most popular shows.
More PBS Kids Tidbits
- Teletubbies is the most searched PBS Kids show in the most states, at 11. Though the show has received several international awards and nominations, it has the lowest IMDB score of any show on our list at 3.8/10.
- Arthur, the longest-running kids animated series, was most popular in 8 states. The series is also the second most talked about PBS kids program on twitter over the past decade. Arthur has been nominated for more than two dozen awards, winning 13.
- Caillou was the most searched show in seven states and the third most talked about PBS kids program on Twitter, with 5,942 Americans tweeting about the show in the past 10 years.
- Clifford the Big Red Dog was the top show in six states. Interestingly, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina and Oregon all rank in the top twenty states with the highest percentage of dog ownership nationwide. The show, based on Norman Bridwell’s book series, has won two awards and has been nominated for 15.
- Sesame Street is the longest running show on our list. By 2006, the iconic series had become the most widely viewed children’s TV show in the world with millions of individual viewers.

The original cast of Gossip Girl, the beloved show from 2007 full of teens knocking back cocktails and socialite drama, has been given a run for its money with the 2021 Gossip Girl reboot on HBO Max. While the original show focused on a gossip blog and flip phones, the new series has turned to Instagram and smartphones to stir up chaos in New York City.
The appeal of glamour and internet drama is alive and well between the two series, and excited viewers of the new show can’t help but compare the members of each cast. While anticipating the upcoming episodes with the new squad, the tv lovers at CenturyLinkQuote, an authorized sales agent of CenturyLink products, set out to find which original Gossip Girl cast members Americans love the most.
More Hot Gossip
- Blair Waldorf is the most loved character from the original series based on our data. Leighton Meester’s fashionable character had the highest number of articles written about her in the past two years (54) and the second highest percent of character Facebook love reactions.
- Chuck Bass, the show’s bad boy played by Ed Westwick, came in second place. 36 articles have been written about Bass in the past two years and 70% of Facebook reactions to articles about the character were “love.”
- Nate Archibald ranked third. The character played by Chace Crawford has been featured in 16 articles over the past two years and had the highest percentage of character Facebook love reactions at 84%.
- Though Blake Lively was the most popular actor to star in the series, her character Serena van der Woodsen ranked fourth. In the last two years alone, Blake was featured in a whopping 2,547 articles.
- Dan Humphrey, the actual Gossip Girl, was the least loved character, ranking number five on our list with only 18% Facebook love reactions. However, Penn Badgley was the second-most popular actor on our list, which is no surprise considering he won the Elle Style Award in 2019 for his performance in psychological thriller You.
Methodology
To determine which Gossip Girl characters are the most popular overall, we referenced lists on Ranker and BuzzFeed and searched for 28 characters’ names in SemRush to determine which 10 characters have the highest search volume. We then used BuzzSumo and applied the filters “past two years,” “United States,” and “English” to see how many articles were written about each character over the past two years and which characters had the highest percentage of Facebook love reactions. We used this information to determine which five characters were the most loved overall.

The internet transcends lines on the map, connecting us to faraway friends and a world of information, fast—but when it comes to online crime, your home (or IP) address couldn’t be more relevant.
Internet scams aren’t one size fits all; the FBI lists seven major types of internet fraud, including phishing, data breaches, and denial of services. But whether you’ve experienced Nigerian letter fraud or you were scammed by an online auction company, your location probably played a bigger role than you’d expect.
With International Data Privacy Day (January 28) and Safer Internet Day (February 6) on the horizon, now is a great time to ask yourself—how safe am I? Our list of the most and least scam-prone states shows how at risk you are whenever (and wherever) you log on.
Interesting Findings
- Alaska is the 48th least-populated state, but its sparse population doesn’t stop it from ranking the highest for number of victims per capita.
- South and North Dakota rank just above Alaska in terms of population, but they came in first and second (respectively) with the least victims per capita.
- High scam risk doesn’t correlate to high money losses. For instance, Nevada experiences more scams than any state besides Alaska, but Nevada victims lose the least amount of money in scams.
- In all but two states, average victim losses per scam total over $1,000 per person. But in Nevada, the average loss per scam is just $6.53; in Colorado, it’s just $7.12.
