Call Forwarding & Transferring Calls
Call forwarding allows you to receive calls made to your home phone even when you’re away. For instance, if you’re away on a work trip, this feature lets you forward calls to your cell phone so you can answer from anywhere.
To turn call forwarding on, dial *72 from your home phone. When you hear a dial tone, enter the number of the phone you’re forwarding the calls to. When the phone rings to voice mail, hang up, and all calls made to your house from that time forward will be sent to the number you entered.
When you no longer need to forward calls, dial *73 from your home phone. A regular dial tone indicates that you’ve successfully deactivated call forwarding.
Call forwarding is included free with your CenturyLink home phone plan, but you’ll be responsible for any long-distance fees incurred by the transfer.
While call forwarding immediately directs all incoming phone calls to another designated number, call transferring lets you transfer calls of your choice to a different number. To transfer a call, press “flash” on your phone, wait for the dial tone, and then dial the number you want to forward the incoming call to.
Call transferring is an add-on service. When you activate it, you might be charged a one-time setup fee plus monthly charges to maintain the service.
